About the Baik Lab

The Baik Lab investigates how tissues sense and adapt to chronic low oxygen states. Our work is centered on identifying novel regulators of hypoxia signaling and translating these discoveries into new insights for cardiovascular and cardiometabolic disorders.

In addition, our lab is interested in mechanisms of cardiovascular toxicities associated with novel cancer-directed therapies. These toxicities include hypertension, cardiomyopathy, and inflammatory heart disease. We are a core member of the INFLAME biobank at UCSF, aimed at identifying biomarkers and novel mechanisms of disease pathogenesis.
